It's a tricky situation, especially if Purdy ends this season looking efficient while sprinkling in some playmaking ability. I am a believer that SB windows are short, especially on a team where the QB is not the focal point of the offense/team. I would be willing to take some lumps to let Lance develop but we don't know how long that will take. Is it a one year thing? Is it a 6 game "tryout" during the 2023 season to see how quickly Lance progresses while knowing they have Purdy in their back pocket?

I no longer care where each QB was selected. Brock is showing he can operate this offense, and maximize the result on some plays - that was the missing element with Jimmy imo. This team has too many playmakers in their prime to dick around and see if a project QB is the long term answer when they need an answer at QB right now. I'll trust Kyle to make the right call since he is in the meeting rooms with these guys. I think he is putting more weight on "win now" than "build for the future".

I posted in the Lance thread about this. If we didn't have such a great roster that's ready to win, I'd be okay with letting him play and seeing what we got. I just don't want to waste this opportunity on that, because odds are we wouldn't won't be super bowl. I'd rather play with a QB that we know can operate at a high level and let the chips fall where the fall.

if Lance ends up sprouting and start balling, then of course start him. Idc who ends up being our FQB, I just want one to lead us to Super Bowls.

Totally agree on both posts. No doubt, next year will be interesting on how this plays out . I will give the edge to Purdy because his body of work in college and how the offense not only didn't miss a beat when he came in but actually look more explosive under him..and the whole team believes in him. Then you add these playing time the last few games and playoffs are so valuable in his development that puts Lance behind. A 6th rounder (Brady-before he was the goat) replaced a former number 1 pick(Bledsoe) or a 3rd rounder replaced a high priced signing (Flynn). So Its safe to assume Shany will pick the player who can run his offense regardless of draft positions. Team is ready to win now.

The only high draft pick that has served us really well is Bosa in the Lynch/Shanahan era. Look at the disasters of Soloman and Forster for example. Draft picking is a guessing game that is sort of guided by a number of educated guesses. Most of it in reality is luck. College performance does not always equate to success in the NFL. Look at last year QB draft. Only Lawarence is doing reasonably okay. Wilson, Mac have fallen on their faces.

That's another thing - people act like losing those first round picks means we won't get an excellent talent, that isn't necessarily true. I'd obviously love to have more first round picks. Lol but I also wouldn't care if Purdy ends up being the guy and all of it was wasted on Trey. The goal is to find a QB - idc how we do it.

Spot on. We just need the best we can get in all positions. Draft is trading on unrealized potential. After the draft if the potential is not realized in a timely manner then the pick is worth less than the price paid by the draft position.

Couple that with how well we draft in the mid to late rounds, and UDFA. Lol the CMC trade might actually hurt us more than the first round picks. Hahaha

Completely happy with Mini Jimmy as he's been playing Jimmy football which is great football but I think Trey is going to be the guy personally.

Mini Jimmy? Nope. Brock navigates the pocket better, extends plays better, and the biggest difference - will look for the big play instead of defaulting to the safe one. One similarity they share is both get injured in limited play.

I agree with points 1 and 2 (purdy is 8 years younger) and 3 maybe. I'll wait for a few more weeks to draw a conclusion.

Couple points to be made -- Jimmy was playing very good before he got hurt. Think he was looking downfield more than in the past. Purdy throws balls with more arc, which means more catchable downfield balls, IMO. Not sure if jimmy doesn't have confidence to do it, or is told by shanny not to do it. Also, confidence plays a factor. It's been a honeymoon so far for Brock. Balls may start to get picked, then we'll see if he still pulls the trigger downfield with the same frequency and decisiveness.

Love what he's showing so far. Hopefully his "measurables" won't put him on IR.

His ankle did.

Unfortunately for him he's the 3rd best QB on the roster.

I think he'll be the best QB on the roster a year from now.

Nothing I've seen would make me think that. It's all speculation based on pure hope.

Nothing? Not a single thing? Hmm.

Agree wtih everything Thl says here, w/special note as to where a guy is drafted truly makes no difference. Jimmy i liked over Lance based on his command of the team and ability to win for us. Lance is definitely a better physical specimen but woefully lacking experience with only 1 yr of small division football. (1 D?) and 3 pro games under his belt Not having played a full season in 3 yrs…is a huge disadvantage. .Like others i thot we were done once jimmy went down. Then Purdy comes in and 3 Ws in 3 games (only last two were starts),

Brock throws every bit as good as Jimmy, but sees downfield better…or looks downfield better. So far he doesn't get rattled, and has been in the 70% range with completions. He reads the D as well as JG, but he has the escapability that JG doesn't have. Overall thru 3 games he has been our best QB, and somehow, the team knows he is their leader. He just carries himself like a seasoned pro.

There is one thing, however, and it was on display after SEA game with #85 and Brock up on the broadcast stage. Kittle was like his usual wild man self, with his hair going in every direction and his beard looking like a guy living on the streets…he was his usual, normal wild man Kittle. Then…well then, they interviewed this kid, who didn't look like he shaved yet, with the appearance of a 16 yr old. Besides that , kittle is built like a refrigerator, and Brock looks like the antithesis…compared to George, Brock looked like a kid just out of high school. Really.

Somehow he doesn't show his swag, yet he has the support of every guy on the team…and he produces. The guys have joined together to get 100% behind this kid who looks still to be a teenager. Difference is his teammates have been around him all yr and recognize his abilities , both as a player and a leader. He's beaten Brady, Tua, and now , our nemesis SEA in their house.

He took that first snap in the MIA game with a shot from blindside ,and got up unfazed…but you have to know that hurt. My only fear….is durability, but he has shown resilience so far, and the MIA shot was as hard a hit as it gets. Brock has to get thru this season both alive…and well. He accomplishes that and we have a great shot at not just going deep…but winning it all. Lord knows we got the D, the HC/OC, DC, the OL, and the good hands guys for us to win it. Wont' be easy but with Brock, we have a great shot at it. Even with all the injuries we got talent everywhere. Team with best talent and best health almost always Wins the SB.

This yr it's us.

Top 10 defense. Front 7 is pretty menacing, their secondary is kind of meh. Will be a game where Purdy especially needs to get it out quickly and accurately.
